 Rahul Kulkarni   Product Manager, Retail at  Shopify    Recent winner of this year's Canadian Innovation Award for Retail & Hospitality, Shopify continues to help more than 500k+ businesses extend their online brands offline.  Rahul leads the Point of Sale product team at Shopify across their Ottawa & Toronto offices. A technologist at heart, with prior experience at Microsoft, SAP and as co-founder at a technology startup, Rahul recognizes the pressing need to democratize technology for up-and-coming retailers. During his time at Shopify his team has helped power some of the world’s largest online-to-offline Popups for brands including Beastmode, Kylie, and The Weeknd to name few.   A Systems Design Engineering graduate from the University of Waterloo, Rahul is constantly humbled by the hustle, tenacity, and ambition of the entrepreneurs he meets in the fashion and retail industry.

 Kristy Wieber   Co-founder & President at  R  ent Frock Repeat    After spending 15 years in retail sales and management, Kristy moved to Toronto in 1999 and shifted gears to apply her skillset to executive recruiting before circling back into sales, where she met her future business partner, Lisa Owen.  Kristy then went on to become the VP of Marketing for a digital agency where she focused her efforts on digital marketing campaigns as well as user experience.  After being invited to a wedding, Kristy and Lisa realized they didn’t want to spend money on a dress that was only going to be worn once.  A year after receiving that wedding invite, they launched Rent frock Repeat in 2011; a service that allows women, all across Canada, to rent a designer dress instead buying one.

A global citizen in every way, Elle hails from Iran, and has lived in Dubai, New Zealand and Australia before moving to Toronto, where Zvelle was born.    Elle’s passion for culture, travel and craftsmanship has taken her to many corners of the globe during her career in international finance and luxury retail. She looks at the world through an international lens, which plays a big part in everything that happens at Zvelle.   Zvelle has been featured in leading publications including The New York Times, WSJ, Forbes, WWD and Footwear News amongst others. Zvelle shoes are worn by international women around the world including Bella Hadid, Adriana Lima, Sharon Stone, Hailee Steinfeld and Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau. Zvelle was recently nominated for The Accessory Designer of The Year Award by Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards.

Without requiring an App, anyone can hover a smartphone over the product and see a story, product information, authenticity, videos and more.

Ashley Barby

Founder & Producer of FashionTech Toronto | Chief Operating Officer at Specsy

Ashley Barby grew up in Alberta with a passion for fashion and her early sights set on Toronto (or even New York). With degree in hand, and the experience of a plum job with Holt Renfrew, she followed her heart and headed East. Her journey has taken her into the fascinating world of fashion and technology, including the launch of her own online luxury shopping company for authentic pre-loved designer items. She has taken unexpected turns with two technology start-ups, most recently in the fashion technology space as Chief Operating Officer with Specsy - manufacturers of custom 3D printed fashion eyewear.

Through her blog, Sunny with Coffee, she shares positive vibes on life, entrepreneurship and lifestyle. Community engagement, from supporting local fashion colleges to mentoring new entrepreneurs, is at the heart of Ashley’s commitment to make the world a better place – and is also the driver behind her launch of FashionTech Toronto, a forum to connect innovators and leaders in the fashion and tech fields.
